A history of our educational trips and the lives we've touched along the way.
Our journey began in our hometown of Savannah, GA. We organized our first workshop for 50 local students, providing them with essential school supplies and a day of interactive learning. This event laid the foundation for our organization's mission.
We saw firsthand the hunger for knowledge in these children and the relief in their parents' eyes. It was then that we knew 1URTI had to grow beyond just one event.
In 2024, we took 100 students on a life-changing trip to the Atlanta Science Center. For many of these children, it was their first time leaving Savannah. The wonder and excitement they felt while exploring the exhibits were truly inspiring.
This trip reinforced our belief that education is not just about books; it's about experiences that broaden the mind and spark curiosity.
Last year, we expanded our reach to Charleston, SC. We partnered with local schools to provide tuition support and after-school tutoring for 200 students. Our community outreach program has become a cornerstone of our work.
By working closely with local educators and families, we've been able to tailor our support to the specific needs of each child, ensuring a more significant and lasting impact.
Jay Bauer, our Principal, reflects on his 30-year career in education. "Every trip, every workshop, and every student we support is a step toward a more equitable future. My journey has been defined by the success of the children we serve."
His leadership and vision continue to guide 1URTI as we look forward to many more years of empowering the next generation.
